Project Limits; From west of the intersection of State Road 50/Cortez Boulevard and State Road 50 A/  through downtown Brooksville to Main Street/Jefferson Street  Russell Street.  

Construction Started September 2022 Completion May 2024. 

SUN Trail awarded a total of $19,335,191 beginning in 2017 for completion of this project. Within the project boundary an additional $11,207,747 was provided by other FDOT (state and federal) sources beginning in 2015 (includes Financial Management 437264-1). Local funds totaling $125,141 were provided in 2024.


All of the trail is officially open!
Brooksville, FL – Local leaders, government officials, and the public gathered in Tom Varn Park on Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024 to celebrate the opening of the latest segment of the Good Neighbor Trail through Brooksville. Speakers talked about the $20 million Florida Department of Transportation construction project that closed a significant gap in the trail system through the city. Attendees enjoyed walking/biking on the trail to and from the event.
